Did you just say Pirates and playoffs in the same sentence?

The Pirates, Nationals, Orioles, A's, Mets. All of these teams are in the playoff race. The Nationals are the feel-good story of the year. Strasburg's arm, everyone rooting for the prodigy Bryce Harper, the kid is 19....crazy! Wilson Ramos' being kidnapped, then suffering an injury that has put him out for the year, see more at www.2012can'tgetanyworse.com- Jerry Sandusky recently created an account. The Nats, or the W's I call them because of the sweet W swoosh on their hats, are for real. That is a very winnable division with the Marlins playing like the Marlins of old, the team that still rep'd the fish on their hat. The Braves pose a serious threat but if Mcann stays hurt, maybe not. We knew the Phillies future was bleak, but we weren't aware the present would be this bad. On paper Phila is the best team, but injuries and age have caught up to them, too soon. Those die hard Philly fans deserve better. The Mets have been, as their name represent..... the Mazin' Mets. R.A. Dickey is the story of the year, and quite honestly should be overshadowing Linsanity and TebowMania, especially if he continues his success nothing either of those "novelty" players were able to do.

Mccutchen will be the MVP, we knew he was a speedster that could field, but he can hit for power now. Channeling his inner Happy Gilmore "Uh-Oh Mccutchen learned how to rake". Mccutchen is taking the league by surprise and running with it, he is the most exciting player in baseball and in a year could very well be the face and dreads of the league. man, those dreads are cool. I don't believe the Pittsburgh crew will win that division or make the promised land, but the improvement has to give hope. Pirates need to make a hard play at acquiring Justin Upton, that would be a legit core with Mccutchen, Upton, and Pedro Alvarez with the pitching to come (still in AA and AAA). Pirates fans are shaking in their seats right now the same way Kings fans get when they are told they will stay in Sacramento.... How many times have we heard that?!

The O's. Baltimore has talent but this division is a 3 headed powerhouse. Actually, the Blue Jays are really good too. If any of the 5 AL East teams conveniently moved to the NL East, they would win the division, easily. Ilove this story of the Orioles this year, but because of this division there is no way they are able to hold their own.

The Oakland Athletics, YES! Classic Oakland A's baseball of recent past  has taken a backseat and we are seeing the new age Athletics team. Anchored by the Big Cuban, Joshua Reddick (the Andrew Bailey payback), and Ryan Cook (the Trevor Cahill payback), this is an overachieving Oakland team. Bayyyyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooo. Bay Area baseball is back! Man, it feels good, is October baseball in the -near future?!! The A's were supposed to be "rebuilding" after an off-season of shipping off top-tier talent for young prospects, a classic Oakland Athletics move, but they are contending. If you look at just pure talent that any team has produced the past 10 years, Oakland has to be #1. Too bad few of those guys ever played more than 2-3 years in the green & gold. Oakland has become a pitchers breeding ground, but also a stockpile for teams like the Yankees and Red Sox. if Oakland can keep their core of young players past the trade deadline and possibly acquire another pitcher who doesn't look like he is still a high school student, they may be able to hang in there and possibly contend for that second wild-card spot. Go A's!
