College basketball season has been exciting as ever this season. We are only a few days away from selection Sunday and march madness. These are my comparisons for many young college basketball prospects being compared to NBA players today. These are comparisons of what type of players they will end up like in the NBA. Many of these names will become future NBA stars and all of them will be playing in march madness.
Perry Jones- A lengthy forward with size and a shooting ability. Their is no denying this kids superstar potential. He can play down low, shoot and defend the wing.
Comparison: Tracy Mcgrady, Kevin Durant. If Perry reaches his full potential then he may become the next Kevin Durant, that is best case scenario. I see him ending up as a player much like Tracy Mcgrady, long, crafty player with superstar potential.
Kemba Walker- A unique scoring talent with three point shooting ability. He is an elite scorer and may become one at the next level.
Comparison: DJ Augustin, Monta Ellis. Kemba can score, their is no denying that, but can he become an elite scorer at the next level? If he reaches his potential he will become a player much like Monta Ellis. A small 2 guard with the ability to drive and create shots for himself.
Kyle SIngler_ A veteran leader with a national championship already under his belt. A reliable shooter, and good on ball defender.
Comparison: Mike Dunleavy, Shane Battier. Both very good defenders, like Singler that love to hustle and shoot.
Terrence Jones- The phenomenal freshman from Kentucky. He can play good defense, get boards, shoot and is a very underrated passer.
Comparison: Reminds me a lot of Lamar Odom and Zach Randolph. All three are lefty's that can pass and rebound the ball. Never likely to become a superstar, but a staple to a good team.
Jared Sullinger- A freshman that is up for national player of the year honors. He is a huge presence inside. A big, bulky rebounder and scoring big man.
Comparison: Joakim Noah, a big post player with league leading rebounding potential.
Jimmer Fredette- The scoring machine out of BYU. This is the nations leading scorer. He fins ways to create shots for himself, but I question his shot selection at times even though he makes it look easy. If he becomes a consistent player at the next level he has to be careful to not shoot his team out of games. All of the negatives aside, he is a superstar scorer and exceptional college athlete.
Comparison: Himself. Honestly, their are players in the NBA that somewhat resemble Jimmer, but none have the shooting range that he does. He is a new type of player. If he can become a good passer and leader of the team then he will become a superstar right away and will go down as one of the best to ever play. His outside shooting ability is off the charts, no one has ever seen anything like it. I think he has potential, but I don't see him reaching it, because many great college players don't become good NBA players.
E'Twaun Moore- This scorer from Purdue doesn't do anything exceptional, but does everything good. He has potential to be a very good 6th man at the next level
Comparison: James Harden. A very crafty player with a trick always up his sleeve. He can do so much with the ball, shoot, drive or pass. He is also a very good on ball defender with speed and hustle.
John Henson- A tar heel with lots of length, size and quickness.
Comparison: This kid reminds me of another former Tar Heel that never reached his potential, Brandan Wright. Henson has potential but for it to be achieved he must be put in the right situation and get playing time.
