Final Four Set

If you filled out your bracket and had VCU in the final four, or any of these two teams, than I give you major props. Virginia Commonwealth is in the final four, I can say that 100 times to myself and it still doesn't sound real. They were the team that ultimately was one of the last two teams chosen to even make the tournament. Many, including myself were complaining and in shock that VCU made it over teams like Virginia Tech and Colorado. Well... VCU, you have proved yourself big time! So VCU beat Georgetown, alright an upset but not a shocker. Then they knock off a very good Purdue team, that was a big upset. Then they play another upset minded team in Florida State, and beat them on a buzzer beater. After that they play the lone 1 seed left in the tournament and a heavy favorite to win the tournament, powerhouse Kansas. They blew out Kansas in the first half, then Kansas came back but VCU stuck with it and pulled of the incredible upset. The team that Cinderella(VCU) will play next is Butler. Butler was the surprise team last year that made it to the national championship. They lost their best player and many more games this year, but they still had Shelvin Mack, Matt Howard, and exhilarating bench and a mastermind in head coach Brad Stevens. Pre-tournament everyone was asking the question who will be this years Butler? Well, why not Butler! Butler is poised to return to the national championship but will have their hands full with VCU. My prediction is Butler winning this game because of strong defense and a two great players in Shelvin Mack and Matt Howard. The other matchup will contain the workhorse Connecticut team up against a youthful but incredibly talented Kentucky team. Connecticut finished 8th in the Big East this year and had to play 9 games in 19 days to get here and they did just that. They have arguably the best player in the nation in Kemba Walker, and a bunch of stud freshman. Kentucky is a team that may be as well rounded as any. They have size, and loads of talent. The thing they don't have is much of a bench. But honestly if you have as good a starting 5 as they do then a bench is overrated. They are led by stud Freshman Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones. This will be a very exciting game but I look for Kentucky to win thanks to their two star freshman.
