The best time of the year finally came, what we have all been waiting for... March Madness! No sporting event in the world, with the exception of the world cup even comes close to matching the excitement of the madness that is March. If I had to take either Christmas or March Madness of the calendar, I would choose Christmas, without much hesitation. March Madness is that special and every time I hear or see March Madness advertising, commercials, shirts, logos, brackets or watch the games I get goose bumps. This is unquestionably the best time of the year and every year seems to get better and better. School no longer is the number one priority throughout March, like it used to be... instead it's bracket time!!!
This year I spent about 11 1/2 hours filling out my bracket, no exaggeration. Although, when it comes down to it my guess is as good as anyone's. My bracket, like most others is already totally screwed up and in the garbage can. So if your like me and can't predict upsets well at all then toss your bracket, or burn it and just start watching the games. Because, honestly it is more fun to just watch and cheer for the cinderella's or whoever you want to win, rather then rooting for who goes far in your bracket.
I don't mean to sound like a front-runner here but I have to stick to my gut, and my pre-season pick and say Kentucky will win it all this year. This is Calipari's best and most talented team ever and with the injuries to many other key players on top squads, this year's Kentucky team will be a very tough out. They are way too talented with the player of the year in Anthony "unibrow" Davis, freshman phenom Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and sophomore big man Terrence Jones. Their "worst starter", Doron Lamb has been called the best player on this team numerous times by Calipari throughout the year. The only teams that may give the 'Cats trouble are Michigan State, and UNC... other than that they should coast.
Now to the NBA, where the players get paid. The trade deadline came and went, with Dwight Howard remaining on the Magic. This whole saga once again reinforces the fact that kids, you can't believe rumors. The big man was supposedley headed to New Jersey, then LA, then Dallas, then the other LA team, then back to New Jersey, none of that happened. The team that did benefit greatly from the trade deadline, was the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks got an all-star caliber player and elite scorer in Monta Ellis, although I have questions about him and Jennings in the same backcourt. Either way, they got a steal because Bogut wasn't making a huge impact on this team and Stephen 'captain jack' Jackson became expendable with the recent play of Ersan Illyasova and I hate to say it but...yes, Mike Dunleavy. The Warriors got the center for the future they have been after since well since Chamberlain days and eventually traded Stephen Jackson to the Spurs for a first round pick and Richard Jefferson. I now expect the Warriors to tank the rest of the year, with Bogut hurt as well as Curry. After all, if the Dubs finish with the 7th or worst record in the league, they get their lottery pick back.
Great write-up! I’m on Kentucky... BIG! It’s only a matter of time before Michael Kidd-Gilchrist shines... step up, man! He’s been a bit silent, in my opinion. Now T. Jones... HUGE plays. Love watching that guy.
ReplyDeleteMonta trade was sad. I’ve been traveling a bit, so I was WAY LATE to finding out the news. Get rid of Curry!! I think Monta could have been great and could have made a Baron Davis type run, of a few years ago. He was short one big man... BUT... I wish Curry would have left and Monta would have stayed.
What’s with all this branding lately... San Francisco Warriors?! I know there are roots in the past, but think it’s to prepare us for a move back to SF when the A’s bail on Oakland?! In my opinion... WHATEVER IT TAKES TO DEVELOP THE TEAM!! NO one wants to go to Oakland... and if it takes moving to SF to land some big name talent, then, let’s start packing!
Nice write up! LOVING this March Madness BABY!
