Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, SELECTION SUDAY

"So, who is the best team in college basketball?" I never thought a normally opinion-based question could be so difficult to answer. With only a day until Selection Sunday, all of our major questions are supposed to be answered. Conference tournaments are usually just a few extra games to clear up and establish seeding for the big dance.

This year, I, as well as many other crazed March fans are perplexed. In past years there was very little to no hesitation to answer such an "easy" question as to who was the best team, but 2013 has brought us nothing but, well...Madness! The past "best" teams heading into Selection Sunday include: 2013 (?), Kentucky ('12), Kansas/Duke ('11), Kansas ('10), North Carolina ('09), Memphis ('08), Florida ('07...'06) etcetera, etcetera. This year you could argue any of the top 15-20 teams to be the "best" team heading into the tournament.

After a wild, wild day of Madness in what has already been a wild week, Duke lost, Arizona is still plagued by the the UCLA-initis, Michigan's offense couldn't disguise their horrific defense, Syracuse contained Otto "Optimus Prime" Porter, Kentucky showed they need a 'brow, and Kansas St. and...MCGRUDER(!!!!) slowed down Mr. Smart and Oklahoma St. The madness has started and it is only beginning, ahhhh the upsets and star performances are in full effect, bring on the butterflies and goosebumps.

Here is how my 24 hours in a day have and will continue to be spent until the tournament is over:

12:01 A.M.- Wanting to go to sleep but last second shots and upsets dancing around in my head make it virtually impossible. The thoughts of more games to come ensures a giddy feeling, further disabling the possibility of sleep.

1:07 A.M.- Still teetering on the "Should I sleep?" or "Do I just stop the inevitable and give in to watching film and highlights of that days games?" questions.

3:14-9:30 A.M.- Dreams of attending March Madness in San Jose with my friends, flying to Salt Lake to sit on press row and meeting Bill Simmons all in one weekend. Oh, and getting engaged to Eva Longoria.

10:05 A.M.-3:45 P.M.- Stumbling to classes, book/binders opened on my desk disguising the ESPN score updates on my phone. (Yes teachers, that may be why my answer to who discovered the theory of relativity was "Michael Carter-Williams"). Thoughts during class: "Why don't teachers cancel class during the big dance AND conference tournaments?", "Why doesn't Billy Donovan go by Billy, the Kid?", "Syracuse has the coolest named players on their teams", "I want to give Rakeem Christmas a hi-five for wearing number 25!" etcetera, etcetera.

{Editors Note: These 7+ hours all take place on a couch/love-sac/spinny-chair/table/the ground, all while in front of a television or computer}
3:51 P.M.-11:58 P.M.- Watching, analyzing, booing, cheering, laughing, mocking, throwing out hypothetical situations, more booing, more laughing, reminiscing, kidding, eating, tweeting, re-tweeting and finally wishing. All these are actions that take place in me, myself and I while viewing the madness that is March.

The days don't get much better than they are in March. Unless of course, you pre-ordered Les Mis. After hours on hours on hours of watching college basketball, reading numerous articles/opinions, listening to Skip Bayless and Richard Sherman argue and cringing to every valuable piece of gold that comes out of Dicky V's mouth, I have made some bold yet brash and probably not correct assumptions:

-Florida and Louisville are the best teams in the country and barring horrible bracket match-ups, I will have them in the Final Four. No team has won a National Championship in the past 20 years that hasn't been in Ken Pomeroy's top 20 defensive efficiency ratings.

-Iowa State, or as I like to call them, "Transfer State", is a sleeper.

-Butler isn't the same team they were 2 and 3 years ago.

-Even though Rotnei Clarke goes against everything I normally don't like in a player (wears an arm sleeve, spikes his hair and somewhat resembles Jimmer), I respect him, big time.

-Miami, Duke and the rest of the ACC are vastly overrated.

-Tom Izzo is the best coach in college. Lack of superior talent, yet somehow always makes Michigan St. a 1, 2 or 3 seed.

-New Mexico is the only threat in the Mountain West.

-Memphis will be a sweet-16 team.

-Otto Porter Jr. is the best player in the country. Followed by Trey Burke, Victor Oladipo and Ben Mclemore.

Don't look now but, I may be the worst bracket filler out-er you know. So why listen to me? Well, the time I have invested has to give me some credibility. Saturday and Sunday will bring more madness and then comes Selection Sunday.

This is the one and only time a year you can count a week like this...Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, SELECTION SUNDAY! So, enjoy it.
