Jerry Sloan retired Thursday from his head coaching job with the Utah Jazz. He was a man with great character, wisdom and formed great basketball players. He may go down one day as a top 10 coach of all time. He reached two titles and lost them both to Jordan's unstoppable Bulls. He didn't have a good relationship with the Jazz best player, Deron Williams which is why some believe he is retiring. It was reported that he got into an argument the night before he retired. He was a great coach and made many players great. I was hoping he would stay around a little longer so he could make Gordon Hayward into a great player.
One college basketball team to really look out for this year in March will be Baylor. They have loads of talent, but have been underachieving all year. If this team does make the tourney then they will be a forced to be reckoned with. Last year they reached the elite eight where the lost to the soon to be champions, Duke. Baylor has an extremely good point guard in LaceDarreus Dunn, a key sixth man in Quincy Acy and the star, freshman phenom Perry Jones III. Jones is an unbelievable talent that doesn't come around to often. If the NBA draft happened today and I had the first pick I would take Perry Jones III, no doubt. He has all the intangibles to become an exceptional talent at the next level, and his size and wingspan are out of this world. He is an unbelievable prospect.
