Important offseason
The only team that can match up and challenge the Heat this year are the San Antonio Spurs. If the first game is any inclination on who will win their respective series, then Heat and Spurs will match up in the Finals. Thunder will not win a championship without a better scoring post man. Perkins 4 points and 6 rebounds won't cut it. It is a shame because that is the only thing holding this incredibly fast and talented Thunder team back. The Celtics are experienced but slow, so the Heat are really a horrible match up for them. The Heat want to run, while the Celtics want to play a slow, defensive minded game. The Heat have a massive advantage there, and therefore will win this series in 5. The Spurs will win the series in 6, and stop the bandwagon that is the OKC Thunder. I do believe the SPurs will match up well with the Heat, but the Heat will still win it all just because they are too talented.
What should the Lakers do this offseason? Well, after another loss in the second round, the Lakers better do something. Most of the series against OKC, Kobe looked like the only player on the Lakers who could do anything. If I am Mitch Kupchak, I hold onto Bynum because he is a better low post scorer than Dwight Howard and I don't think Dwight would be an upgrade over Bynum. RonMetta ArtestWorldPeace is a free agent, and that is fine by me and there shouldn't be any interest to re-sign him. You have a lot of options then at small forward, with free agents like Gerald Wallace and Michael Beasley. But, if Pau isn't gone there is no chance of signing a player like this, because they will have no money. IF Gasol is gone, they need to pursue a young, athletic small forward as well as a another guard off the bench, like free agent O.J. Mayo. I would be very willing to trade Gasol, not because he isn't valuable, which he is, but because his salary leaves you no room to operate. Therefore, I would be willing to trade Gasol for Lou Williams and Lavoy Allen or even Glen Davis and Jameer Nelson. You don't have to give Pau up, but they should do everything they can to trade him. Also possible trades to the Jazz, for Al Jefferson and the Rockets for Lowry and Scola make a lot of sense. Lakers also need to target a point guard and pursue both Deron Williams and Steve Nash.
