The NBA draft is the best draft in sports. For a few reasons. The draft is only 2 rounds, which means every pick is exciting. You actually know the players, unlike the NFL draft when there are division 2 players getting drafted and you see guys names from schools like Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State. The NBA is special in that one player can change a team and franchise, and form a dynasty. The NBA draft just simply is the best. This year the top 6 picks are almost set in stone, we know who the top 6 players will be, it is just a question who will pick who. I love the trade the Wizards made to acquire Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor for Rashard Lewis aka basically not giving up anything. Ariza allows them to draft Beal now, instead of one of the two elite small forwards. Okafor and Nene will form a solid frontcourt that already included Andray Blatche. They WizKids better compete this year, the talent is there. The Warriors are rumored to have offered the 7th pick for Luol Deng, a trade which would benefit both teams. The Lakers need to make a move, and should be very aggresive in trying to get a pick and draft one of the two Baylor studs, Quincy Miller or Perry Jones III. My reccomendations, don't draft Andre Drummond or Meyers Leonard.
Players that will be superstars: well the list is short with only Anthony Davis. His shooting ability is what takes him from a defensive and rebounding machine to an NBA superstar.
Players that will be All-Stars, but not quite superstars: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Thomas Robinson. You have all heard me rave about Kidd-Gilchrist because of his motor and competitiveness. Robinson possesses experience and is a rebounding machine. I could see him becoming a Blake Griffin type player. He is an animal down low.
Very solid picks mid to late in the draft: Terrence Jones, Perry Jones III, Austin Rivers, Terrence Ross, Royce White. Both Jones's have tons and tons of talent but both underachieved their second year in college. Perry is one of few players in this draft who has potential to become a star. Rivers has a ton of talent too, just needs to learn to become a point guard and better decision making. Ross is versatile and can play either the 2 or 3, at 6'7 which makes him very valuable. Royce White led his Iowa State team in scoring, assists, rebounding, steals and blocks per game. He can play virtually every position but center.
I'm pumped to see who gets drafted by who, and also the draft day trades that go down.
